WHAT A GAME. This was one of the most exciting games of the year, and possibly even more important than last night's game. The 1st period only had one event, and it was a penalty. Hershey's Patrick Wellar was charged with hooking. After the 1st, Hershey had a 12-9 shot advantage.

The 2nd period had more going on. 1:25 into the period, Hershey took a 1-0 lead. Jeff Taffe scored his 18th of the season, from Cameron Schilling & Peter LeBlanc. 5 minutes later, St. John's tied it up. Kyle MacKinnon scored his 9th of the season, from Patrice Cormier & Ben Chiarot. 2 minutes later, Hershey's Dane Byers was charged with high-sticking. At the 11:22 mark, a fight occurred between Hershey's Steve Oleksy & the IceCaps' Patrice Cormier. 32 seconds later, the IceCaps' Jordan Hill was charged with hooking. At the 15:18 mark, the IceCaps' Julian Melchiori was charged with interference. After the 2nd, Hershey had a 21-18 shot advantage.

The 3rd period had all penalties going on, and strong performances from the goaltenders. At the 3:53 mark, Hershey's Michael Latta was charged with elbowing. At the 10:57 mark, the IceCaps' Zach Redmond was charged with slashing. And at the 17:33 mark, Hershey's Michael Latta was charged with holding. After the 3rd, St. John's had the 29-27 shot advantage. In overtime, St. John's dominated, especially on the power play. Hershey's Dane Byers was charged with hooking. St. John's finished with a 33-27 shot advantage. In the shootout, both teams scored in the 1st round. St. John's scored in the 3rd round, and Hershey scored in the 5th round. The teams went back and forth with no goals until the 12th round, where Hershey's Tyson Strachan scored to win the game. David Leggio put forth another great performance, finishing with 32 saves and going 10 of 12 on the shootout. Hershey is now within one point of 8th place in the Eastern Conference, and will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday against the Portland Pirates. Game time is at 7.
