Recap

3 losses in a row. With how much this team has been winning lately, this game was a tough one to lose. At the 2:38 mark, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton got the scoring started. Mike Carman scored his 6th of the season, from Bobby Farnham & Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond. 18 seconds later, the Penguins' Spencer Machacek was charged for slashing. Towards the end of that power play, Hershey's Julien Brouillette was charged with holding. At the 12:10 mark, Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond was charged with goaltender interference. Hershey took advantage of that power play. Dane Byers scored his 9th of the season, from Ryan Potulny & Julien Brouillette. About a minute later, Spencer Machacek received another penalty, this time for tripping. A couple seconds after that power play expired, Hershey took the 2-1 lead. Casey Wellman scored his 14th of the season, from Peter LeBlanc. The shot advantage was tied at 6 after the 1st.

The 2nd period had much less happening than either the 1st or 3rd periods did. At the 6:16 mark, Patrick Wey was charged with closing his hand on the puck. 3 minutes later, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton tied it up. Bobby Farnham scored his 5th goal of the season (2nd point of the night), from Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond (2nd point of the night) & Andrew Ebbett. At the 14:15 mark, the Penguins' Dominik Uher was charged with kneeing. To finish off the period, at the 16:13 mark, Hershey's Julien Brouillette was charged with slashing. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton took hold of the shot advantage in this period to make it 20-10.

It's been quite a while since I've seen this much scoring in a period. 28 seconds into the period, the Bears took a 3-2 lead. Dane Byers scored his 10th of the season (2nd goal of the game), from Patrick Wey. 3 minutes later, the Penguins' Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond was charged with goaltender interference for the 2nd time in the game. However, it would be Wilkes-Barre/Scranton that would score shorthanded on this power play. Brendan Mikkelson scored his 5th of the season, from Jayson Megna & Dominik Uher, to tie the game at 3. 2 minutes later, Hershey got the penalty that would change the game completely.

Dustin Gazley was charged with a double minor for high-sticking. The Penguins would then score 2 goals within 23 seconds. The first one was Andrew Ebbett's 9th goal of the season (2nd point of the night), from Nick Drazenovic & Brendan Mikkelson (2nd point of the night). The second one was Spencer Machacek's 14th goal of the season, from Tom Kostopoulos & Nick Drazenovic (2nd point of the night). However, around 2 minutes later, Hershey showed they weren't done. Jeff Taffe scored his 16th of the season, from Ryan Potulny (2nd point of the night), to make it 5-4. Eric Hartzell, the goalie for the Penguins, was taken out at this point for Jeff Deslauriers. 2 minutes later, the Penguins made it 6-4. Spencer Machacek scored his 15th of the season (2nd goal of the night), from Andrew Ebbett (2nd point of the night) & Philip Samuelsson. Only 30 seconds later, at the 12:54 mark, Hershey made it 6-5. Nicolas Deschamps scored his 13th of the season, from Stanislav Galiev & Ryan Stoa. 4 seconds later, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's Barry Goers was charged with delay of game, but the Bears couldn't take advantage. The Penguins finished the game with a 29-20 shot advantage. Hershey will look to break their losing streak on Friday, against the Hartford Wolf Pack. Game time is at 7.

Another victory at Boardwalk Hall! The Bears seem to really enjoy playing in that place. Overall, this game didn't have a whole bunch happening. The most happened in the 1st period. At the 2:22 mark, Hershey's Steve Oleksy was charged with tripping. At the 8:04 mark, Hershey's Cameron Schilling was charged with holding. Albany took advantage of this power play 8 seconds in. Reid Boucher scored his 12th of the season, from Tim Sestito & Scott Timmins, to give Albany the 1-0 lead. Around 4 minutes later, Albany's Dan Kelly was charged with holding, but the Bears couldn't take advantage. However, with 12 seconds left in the period, Hershey tied it up again. Matt Watkins scored his 8th of the year, from Dane Byers. Albany had the 14-9 shot advantage at the 1st intermission.

The 2nd period had a little less going on than the 1st period did. At the 1:24 mark, Albany's Corbin McPherson was charged with hooking. At the 15:34 mark, the scoreless tie was broken. The Devils' Stefan Matteau scored his 9th of the season, from Scott Timmins & Mike Hoeffel, to make it 2-1. As the Bears were trying to tie it, Tyson Strachan was charged with tripping at the 18:36 mark. Albany continued their shot advantage, now at 23-16.

The 3rd period had only one happening in the stat books, but it was a big one. At the 9:23 mark, Hershey's Michael Latta scored his 7th of the year, from Peter LeBlanc & Nicolas Deschamps, to make it 2-2. After that period, Albany had the shot advantage at 32-21. In the overtime period, Albany had most of the chances, but couldn't score one. They finished with the shot advantage at 35-22. In the shootout, Hershey scored on its first two shots, from Ryan Stoa & Casey Wellman. Philipp Grubauer stood tall until the 4th round, where Stefan Matteau scored to make it 2-1 in the shootout. No one would score after that, as Grubauer stood in the 5th and final round (and also finished with 33 saves), and the Bears came out with the victory! The Bears return home tomorrow night to try to increase their home winning streak to 12 games. It's against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and game time is at 7.

Recap

DEFEND THE DEN. 11 in a row at Giant Center! The 1st period started off very quickly. 61 seconds in, Hershey's Ryan Stoa scored his 10th of the season, from Nicolas Deschamps & Brandon Segal. However, in what has became the trademark occasionally for the Bears, it did take long for the Penguins to tie it up. At the 2:58 mark, Harry Zolnierczyk scored his 16th of the season, from Dominik Uher. 9 minutes later, Stoa was charged with interference. 43 seconds into the power play, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's Tom Kostopoulos scored his 18th of the season, from Simon Despres & Andrew Ebbett, to take a 2-1 lead. 41 seconds later, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's Tom Kuhnhackl was charged with roughing. 3 minutes later, at the 15:53 mark, the Penguins' Bobby Farnham was penalized with charging and unsportsmanlike conduct for disputing a decision. Hershey couldn't take advantage (which became a common theme for their power play), and at the 18:03 mark, Michael Latta was charged with tripping. At the 1st intermission, Hershey had a 12-9 shot advantage.

The 2nd period could be considered the penalty period. At the 5:42 mark, Harrison Ruopp was charged with boarding. At the 8:31 mark, a number of penalties occurred. For Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, there was Ruopp for fighting, and Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond (that's one person) with a misconduct for continuing an altercation. For Hershey, there was Cameron Schilling for interference, Michael Latta for fighting, and Joel Rechlcz with a misconduct for continuing an altercation. About 4 minutes later, the Penguins' Anton Zlobin was charged for elbowing. Hershey couldn't take advantage, but at the 16:01 mark, the game was ted. Matt Watkins scored his 7th of the year, from Peter Leblanc & Michael Latta, to tie it at 2. At the end of the period, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's Nick Drazenovic was charged for tripping. At the 2nd intermission, Hershey had a 25-16 shot advantage.

At the start of the 3rd, Hershey had their 6th power play of the game, but couldn't capitalize once again. Then, at the 6:50 mark, the Bears were served a bench minor for too many men on the ice. 4 minutes later, a penalty shot was issued for Hershey's Dane Byers. He capitalized on it, scoring his 7th goal of the season, to give the Bears a 3-2 lead. Only 13 seconds later, Hershey's Cameron Schilling was charged for closing his hand on the puck. As the period went on, it looked like the Bears would hold on for their 11 straight home win. However, that was thought too soon at the time. At the 16:49 mark, the Penguins' Bobby Farnham scored his 3rd of the season, from Carter Rowney & Philip Samuelsson, to tie the game up at 3. At the intermission, Hershey continued its shot advantage, now at 31-27.

Hershey didn't take long in the overtime period to make sure that their home winning streak continued. 47 seconds into the period, Dustin Gazley scored his 6th of the season, from Matt Watkins & Tyson Strachan, to give the Bears the 4-3 victory! As that was the only shot of the period, the Bears won the shot advantage 32-27. After the All-Star Break, the Bears will have another 3-in-3 stretch of games. The first game will be at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City against the Albany Devils. Game time is at 7.

A few minutes later, Hershey was hit with two penalties, which gave Rochester a two-man advantage for a short period of time. Recap

That was a rough one to watch. Only around 3 minutes into the 1st period, Adirondack's Tyler Brown scored his 1st goal of the season, from Marc-Andre Bourdon & Kyle Flanagan, to make it 1-0 in favor of the home team. Only 4 minutes later, Tye McGinn scored his 12th of the season, from Kris Newbury & Jason Akeson, to increase their lead to 2-0. Marc-Andre Bourdon was called for hooking at the 11:17 mark, but Hershey couldn't capitalize (which became a theme in this game). With under 3 minutes left, Hershey came back a bit with Matt Watkins' 6th goal of the season, from Ryan Potulny and Dane Byers. Towards the end of the period, Bruno Gervais was penalized for slashing, which gave the Bears a power play at the start of the 2nd. Even though Adirondack dominated a good amount of the period, Hershey had a 13-6 shot advantage.

The 2nd period had much to talk about...in the penalty aspect. At 2:56, Nick Cousins was charged with a holding penalty. Right towards the end of that power play, Kris Newbury was given a double minor for tripping and unsportsmanlike conduct. That gave the Bears 4 more minutes on the power play, but they couldn't score on it. At the 8:49 mark, Cameron Schilling was penalized for holding, which gave Adirondack their 1st power play (which they didn't score on). With a little over 5 minutes left, each team received penalties. For Hershey, Ryan Stoa got charged with tripping and roughing, while for Adirondack, Kris Newbury got charged with roughing. No goals were scored on that power play, so the period was scoreless. Hershey had a 19-14 shot advantage, but was still down 2-1.

Going into the 3rd period, the Bears needed to get more chances to score. However, it became Adirondack's chances to score. At the 5:12 mark, Nicolas Deschamps got called for tripping. Only 17 seconds later, Adirondack's Ben Holmstrom scored his 9th goal of the season on said power play, from Tye McGinn & Kris Newbury (2nd assist of the game). Only 3 minutes later, Adirondack's Jason Akeson scored his 16th of the season, from Tye McGinn (2nd assist of the game) and Oliver Lauridsen, to make it 4-1 in favor of the Phantoms. Towards the end of the game, it got a little chippy. Hershey's Derek Whitmore and Adirondack's Oliver Lauridsen were charged 5 minutes for fighting at the 16:34 mark, and Adirondack's Chris VandeVelde got a penalty for tripping at the 18:40 mark. Adirondack outshot Hershey 17-10 in that period, to give them the 31-29 advantage. Hershey's power play unit was shut out, which was the key in this game. Hershey, whose 6-game winning streak was snapped, will travel back to the Giant Center for an early game tomorrow against the Norfolk Admirals. Game time is at 2.
