Recap

And with that, the season is over. Although the score was close at times, the gameplay itself showed that the result would never be in doubt. Hartford was the better team in this game. At first, it did look like the Bears would put up a great fight. Hershey got on the board first, only 1:24 into the 1st. Andre Burakovsky scored his 1st of the playoffs, from Chris Conner & Cameron Schilling. At the 9:02 mark of the period, the Wolf Pack would tie the game up. Marek Hrivik scored his 1st of the playoffs, from Brady Skjei & Chris Bourque. After the first, the Wolf Pack finished with a dominating 16-7 shot advantage.

In the 2nd, some mistakes by the Bears would haunt them. 1:26 into the period, Hartford took the lead. Marek Hrivik scored his 2nd of the night (2nd of playoffs), from Chris Bourque (2nd assist of night). On a penalty kill 4 minutes later, the Bears would get a shorthanded goal to tie it at two. Dustin Gazley scored his 2nd of the playoffs, from Kris Newbury & Cameron Schilling (2nd assist of night). At the 9:00 mark, the Wolf Pack would take the lead right back. Michael Kostka scored his 1st of the playoffs, from Oscar Lindberg & Joey Crabb. Later in the period, on a penalty kill, the Wolf Pack would increase their lead to two with a shorthanded goal. Joey Crabb scored his 4th of the playoffs (2nd point of night), from Oscar Lindberg (2nd assist of night). After the 2nd, the Wolf Pack had the 27-18 shot advantage.

In the 3rd, the Wolf Pack would play the careful game to make sure that the Bears couldn't come back. It would work for most of the period, but the Bears did try to make one last fight with a goal at the 12:44 mark. Nate Schmidt scored his 4th of the playoffs. However, only a minute and a half later, the Wolf Pack would put the nail in the coffin with a goal to make it 5-3. Carl Klingberg scored his 2nd of the playoffs, from Ryan Haggerty & Dylan McIlrath. With 36 seconds left, Hartford would get an empty-net goal. Marek Hrivik finished off the hat trick (3rd goal of playoffs), from Chris Bourque (3rd assist of night) & Tommy Hughes. The Wolf Pack finished with the 37-26 shot advantage.

Note: I will do like I did last season, in which I will post after each remaining round of the playoffs is over and recap it, and then preview the upcoming round.

Recap

Behind a strong performance from Philipp Grubauer in goal, the Bears have taken a 2-1 series lead! This game was played in Worcester due to the circus being at Hartford's arena, and it really was a neutral ice game (only 908 people were at the game). The 1st period would be mostly controlled by the Wolf Pack, as they would get three power plays in the period. However, just like in the regular season, the Bears' penalty kill unit stood strong. After the 1st, the Wolf Pack had the 13-7 shot advantage. In the 2nd, the Bears would get on the board early (1:07 mark) to take the 1-0 lead. Nate Schmidt scored his 3rd of the playoffs, from Jakub Vrana & Casey Wellman.

The Bears would get some power plays in this period, but Hartford would be the one to score on one of them, as they got a shorthanded goal to tie it at one late in the period. Joey Crabb scored his 2nd of the playoffs. After the 2nd, the Wolf Pack had the 24-18 shot advantage. In the 3rd, Hartford would get a power play in the middle of the period. However, the Bears would return the favor, as they would get a shorthanded goal to make it 2-1. Cameron Schilling scored his 3rd of the playoffs. Grubauer would stand strong the rest of the game, and finish with a 31-save performance (Hershey had 22 shots).

Recap

A heartbreaking way to start the series. With how that first period went, it was looking good. Hartford slowly took control, and Philipp Grubauer wouldn't be able to stop everything (even though he stopped quite a bit). In the 1st, like I said, the Bears were in control. The score could have been 4-0 if it wasn't for Yann Danis. With 54 seconds left in the period, the Bears would finally get one past him. Chris Conner scored his 2nd of the playoffs, from Erik Burgdoerfer. After the 1st, the Bears had the 16-9 shot advantage.

In the 2nd, a little bit after a 5-on-3 ended, the Wolf Pack would score on the power play to tie it at one. Chris Mueller scored his 3rd of the season, from Marek Hrivik & Justin Vaive. After that period, the Bears would have the 27-21 shot advantage. Starting in the 3rd, the referees would not use their whistles much except for one time during the 3rd. Going into the overtime period, the Wolf Pack were gaining control, and they had that full control in the period. Philipp Grubauer would make some amazing saves, but the Wolf Pack would get one past him with 3:13 left in overtime to take the 1-0 series lead. Chris Bourque (former Bear) scored his 2nd of the playoffs, from Oscar Lindberg & Joey Crabb (former Bear). The Wolf Pack finished with the 42-37 shot advantage.

Recap

I don't think I've seen a bigger statement win in a playoff series than this one. This was a huge statement to the rest of the league, and the Bears won their first playoff series since 2010! The Bears started off early, and never stopped from there. 24 seconds in, the Bears would get on the board. Chris Brown scored his 2nd of the playoffs, from Dustin Gazley & Kris Newbury. At the 3:44 mark, on the penalty kill, the Bears made it 2-0. Dustin Gazley scored his 1st of the playoffs. Later on in the period, at the 10:40 mark, the lead would stretch to 3. Jakub Vrana scored his 1st of the playoffs, from Casey Wellman & Cameron Schilling. The Sharks would try to start a comeback, getting a goal at the 12:17 mark. Dylan DeMelo scored his 1st of the playoffs, from Ryan Carpenter & Eriah Hayes. However, the Bears would get that 3-goal lead right back at the 16:10 mark (on the power play). Casey Wellman scored his 1st of the playoffs (2nd point of night), from Nate Schmidt & Jakub Vrana (2nd point of night). After the 1st, the shot advantage was tied at 11.

In the 2nd, the scoring would continue, and it would begin with the Sharks making it 4-2 on the power play. Karl Stollery scored his 1st of the playoffs, from Chris Tierney & Dylan DeMelo (2nd point of night). At the 8:09 mark of the period, the Sharks would switch from Troy Grosenick to Aaron Dell in goal. The switch would not work, as at the 9:05 mark, the Bears lead was back to 3. Cameron Schilling scored his 2nd of the playoffs (2nd point of night), from Chris Conner & Tim Kennedy. At the 17:55 mark, Worcester's Evan Trupp would receive a major penalty and a game misconduct for slashing. The Bears would take advantage of this, as they got a goal with 28 seconds left in the period. Tim Kennedy scored his 1st of the playoffs (2nd point of night), from Connor Carrick & Chris Conner (2nd point of night). After the 2nd, the Bears had the 31-21 shot advantage.

The Bears would switch from Philipp Grubauer to Pheonix Copley in the 3rd. In this period, the Bears would continue to take advantage of that major penalty with a couple more goals. The first would come 19 seconds into the period. Casey Wellman scored his 2nd of the night (2nd of playoffs, 3rd point of night), from Jim O'Brien & Nate Schmidt (2nd assist of night). 1:09 later, the Bears made it 8-2 on the same power play. Liam O'Brien scored his 2nd of the playoffs, from Nate Schmidt (3rd assist of night) & Tim Kennedy (2nd assist, 3rd point of night). 41 seconds later, after a penalty on the Bears cancelled out the rest of their power play, they got their 9th goal. Casey Wellman finished off his hat trick (3rd of playoffs, 4th point of night), from Jakub Vrana (2nd assist, 3rd point of night) & Cameron Schilling (2nd assist, 3rd point of night). At the 8:06 mark, the Bears reached double-digits! Chris Brown scored his 2nd of the night (3rd of playoffs), from Connor Carrick & Kris Newbury (both 2nd assists of night). The Sharks would score a couple goals late in the game for some pride. The first was Rylan Schwartz's 1st of the playoffs, from Bryan Lerg & Daniil Tarasov. The 2nd was Matt Taormina's 1st of the playoffs, from Travis Oleksuk & Jeremy Langlois. The Bears finished with the 48-34 shot advantage.

Note: The Bears will either play Hartford or Portland in the next round, depending on the outcome of the Manchester-Portland series. I will post the next round's schedule when it is released!
