Recap

The Bears are playoff bound! The Bears' play put them in a much better position in the standings this season, and it shows with the early playoff clinching. A little bit into the first, the Sound Tigers would be charged in a major penalty. The Bears would take advantage of that with two goals on that power play. The first goal was Stanislav Galiev's 24th of the season, from Andre Burakovsky & Chris Conner. The second goal was Andre Burakovsky's 3rd of the season (2nd point of night), from Dmitry Orlov & Tim Kennedy. After the 1st, the Sound Tigers had the 12-7 shot advantage.

In the 2nd, Bridgeport made sure that they wouldn't go away without a fight. At the 5:42 mark, the Sound Tigers would get within one. Alan Quine scored his 20th of the season, from Scott Mayfield & Dustin Jeffrey. A little more than 3 minutes later, the Bears would score their 3rd power play goal of the game. Casey Wellman scored his 22nd of the season, from Nate Schmidt & Stanislav Galiev (2nd point of night). After the 2nd, the Sound Tigers had the 24-16 shot advantage.

In the 3rd, the tiredness of a 3-in-3 weekend started to show. At the 3:46 mark, on the power play, Bridgeport would get back to within one. Ryan Pulock scored his 15th of the season, from Alan Quine (2nd point of night) & Dustin Jeffrey (2nd assist of night). 4 minutes later, the Sound Tigers would tie the game. Kael Mouillierat scored his 20th of the season, from Colton Gillies & Aaron Ness. After a few scary chances from Bridgeport, Hershey would capitalize on one of their scoring chances to get the lead back. Jim O'Brien scored his 8th of the season, from Dustin Gazley & Casey Wellman (2nd point of night). The Sound Tigers finished with the 34-22 shot advantage.

Recap

With how strong the power play and penalty kill units started, this was a tough loss to take. The Bears gave up six goals for the first time this season, and it was with five unanswered. After the 1st, the Monarchs had a staggering 22-5 shot advantage.

In the 2nd, the goals would come in bunches. On the power play (at the 5:09 mark), the Bears would get on the board first. Jim O'Brien scored his 5th of the season, from Dmitry Orlov & Casey Wellman. Zach O'Brien scored his 13th of the season, from Nic Dowd (2nd assist of the night) & Jeff Schultz. After the 2nd, the Monarchs had a huge 37-18 shot advantage.

In the 3rd, all the shots would finally take its toll on Philipp Grubauer, as the Monarchs would take full control of the game. On the power play (at the 3:20 mark), they would take the 4-3 lead. Michael Mersch scored his 2nd of the night (14th of season, 3rd point of night), from Colin Miller & Jeff Schultz (2nd assist of night). At the 13:33 mark, the lead would increase to two. Michael Mersch would get the hat trick (15th of season, 4th point of night), from Sean Backman (2nd point of night) & Andrew Bodnarchuk (2nd assist of night). The Monarchs would finish the night with another goal to make it 6-3 at the 15:58 mark. Recap

Wonderful performances by the penalty kill units and Philipp Grubauer were the reason for this win. The penalty kill completely shut down the Sharks, and Grubauer was masterful once again. The Sharks had complete control from the beginning of the game, but the Bears would be the ones to get on the board first (at the 6:31 mark of the 1st). Tim Kennedy scored his 8th of the season, from Chris Conner & Jon Landry. At the end of the 1st, the Sharks had the 12-4 shot advantage. The 2nd period would be filled with shots, but no goals were given up. The penalty kill for the Bears would stop a brief 5-on-3 towards the end of the period. After the 2nd, the Sharks had the 31-12 shot advantage.

In the 3rd, the scoring would pick up. 17 seconds into the period, the Sharks tied it. Bryan Lerg scored his 9th of the season, from Evan Trupp & Karl Stollery. At the 9:22 mark, shortly after surviving another 5-on-3 penalty kill, the Bears would get the lead again. Cameron Schilling scored his 3rd of the season, from Casey Wellman. With 1:06 left, the Bears would get an important empty-net goal. Jim O'Brien scored his 4th of the season, from Dustin Gazley & Cameron Schilling (2nd point of the night). That empty-net goal was important because with 16 seconds left, the Sharks would make it 3-2. Bryan Lerg scored his 2nd of the night (10th of the season), from Taylor Fedun. Philipp Grubauer finished with 44 saves, as the Sharks had the 46-23 shot advantage.

Recap

It seems like it has been ages since the Bears have lost two in a row. The lead on the division is a little smaller with that loss. It would be a tough test against Matt Murray, and it showed towards the beginning. Even with the momentum on their side, the Bears couldn't stop the Penguins from getting the 1st goal. Jayson Megna scored his 17th of the season, from Scott Wilson & Adam Payerl. Around 5 minutes later (at the 10:55 mark), the Bears would tie the game up. Connor Carrick scored his 8th of the season, from Dustin Gazley & Kris Newbury. After the 1st, the Bears had the 14-7 shot advantage.

In the 2nd, the action would not occur until the 2nd half of the period. In that 2nd half of the period, at the 12:06 mark, the Bears would take the 2-1 lead. Dustin Gazley scored his 15th of the season (2nd point of night), from Kris Newbury (2nd assist of night) & Connor Carrick (2nd point of night). At the 16:28 mark, when it was 4-on-4 after the Bears' penalty, the Penguins would tie the game up. Barry Goers scored his 1st of the season, from Jayson Megna (2nd point of night) & Adam Payerl (2nd assist of night). After the 2nd, the Bears had the 21-16 shot advantage.

In the 3rd, the period went from exciting to terrible for the Bears. At the 3:18 mark, the Bears would take the 3-2 lead. Mike Moore scored his 2nd of the season, from Stanislav Galiev & Chris Conner. 13 seconds later, the Penguins would tie it again. Matia Marcantuoni scored his 4th of the season, from Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond & Bobby Farnham. Much later in the period, at the 16:37 mark, the Penguins would take the 4-3 lead. Joel Hanley scored his 2nd of the season, from Jordan Martinook & Henrik Samuelsson. After the 1st, the Bears had the 9-8 shot advantage.

The 2nd would be controlled by the Pirates in all parts of the game, but Philipp Grubauer would stand strong to keep it a one goal game. After the 2nd, the Pirates had the 23-18 shot advantage. In the 3rd, the Pirates would run away with it. They would make it 3-1 at the 4:02 mark. Recap

This game had a playoff feel to it. Seeing as it was between two teams that are in playoff contention, it's not a surprise. Philipp Grubauer was his usual strong self, but Jeremy Smith was just as strong. In the 1st, the momentum would be in the Bruins' favor due to penalties against the Bears. 10 seconds into the 2nd penalty, at the 12:45 mark, Providence would get on the board. Paul Carey scored his 14th of the season, from Joe Morrow & Zack Phillips. After the 1st, the Bruins had the 10-6 shot advantage.

In the 2nd, the Bruins would keep up their pace. At the 6:17 mark, on the power play, they would make it 2-0. Seth Griffith scored his 10th of the season, from Alexander Khokhlachev. At the 9:53 mark, also on the power play, the Bears would cut the lead in half. Tim Kennedy scored his 7th of the season, from Stanislav Galiev & Casey Wellman. A fight would break out a little later between Hershey's Liam O'Brien & Providence's Tyler Randell. The 3rd period would be controlled by the Bears, but Jeremy Smith would stand tall against them. The Bears finished with the 30-25 shot advantage.

Next Game: Tomorrow at Hartford, 3:30

Note: Due to tomorrow's start time and previous engagements, the post for the game will be later than normal. Apologies in advance!

Recap

The Caps really need to keep their eyes on Philipp Grubauer. He's a special talent, as shown once again tonight with his 6th shutout of the season! Although Hershey had less chances, their chances were usually better ones than the Phantoms had. In the 1st, the play was pretty even although the shots say different. After the 1st, the Phantoms had the 13-7 shot advantage. In the 2nd, during a short 4v4, the Bears got on the board first. Dustin Gazley scored his 13th of the season, from Mike Moore & Kris Newbury. After the 2nd, the Phantoms had the 21-11 shot advantage. The Phantoms would continue the pressure in the 3rd, but the Bears would be the one to get a goal (at the 5:19 mark). Stanislav Galiev scored his 21st of the season, from Chris Conner & Steve Oleksy. Some tension would boil over, as a fight would occur between Hershey's Connor Carrick & Lehigh Valley's Scott Laughton. Philipp Grubauer would finish with 37 saves (Hershey finished with 17 shots).
