Recap


With how strong the power play and penalty kill units started, this was a tough loss to take. The Bears gave up six goals for the first time this season, and it was with five unanswered. The 1st period would feature no scoring, and the Monarchs would have complete control in the period. A fight would occur between Hershey's Liam O'Brien & Manchester's Josh Gratton. After the 1st, the Monarchs had a staggering 22-5 shot advantage.


In the 2nd, the goals would come in bunches. On the power play (at the 5:09 mark), the Bears would get on the board first. Jim O'Brien scored his 5th of the season, from Dmitry Orlov & Casey Wellman. The Monarchs would follow with a tying goal at the 8:26 mark. Sean Backman scored his 17th of the season, from Michael Mersch & Vincent LoVerde. About 3 and a half minutes later, the Bears would take the lead again on the power play. Jim O'Brien scored his 2nd of the night (6th of season), from Dmitry Orlov & Casey Wellman (both 2nd assists of night).


On the following Manchester power play, the Bears would get a shorthanded goal. Chandler Stephenson scored his 6th of the season, from Mike Moore & Dustin Gazley. At the 16:48 mark, the Monarchs would be able to get within one. Michael Mersch scored his 13th of the season (2nd point of the night), from Andrew Bodnarchuk & Nic Dowd. 15 seconds before the end of the period, the game would be tied at 3. Zach O'Brien scored his 13th of the season, from Nic Dowd (2nd assist of the night) & Jeff Schultz. After the 2nd, the Monarchs had a huge 37-18 shot advantage.


In the 3rd, all the shots would finally take its toll on Philipp Grubauer, as the Monarchs would take full control of the game. On the power play (at the 3:20 mark), they would take the 4-3 lead. Michael Mersch scored his 2nd of the night (14th of season, 3rd point of night), from Colin Miller & Jeff Schultz (2nd assist of night). At the 13:33 mark, the lead would increase to two. Michael Mersch would get the hat trick (15th of season, 4th point of night), from Sean Backman (2nd point of night) & Andrew Bodnarchuk (2nd assist of night). The Monarchs would finish the night with another goal to make it 6-3 at the 15:58 mark. Jordan Weal scored his 18th of the season, from Brian O'Neill & Michael Mersch (2nd assist, 5th point of night). The Monarchs would finish with the 48-24 shot advantage.
