At the 10:57 mark, the IceCaps' Zach Redmond was charged with slashing. And at the 17:33 mark, Hershey's Michael Latta was charged with holding. St. John's finished with a 33-27 shot advantage. In the shootout, both teams scored in the 1st round. St. John's scored in the 3rd round, and Hershey scored in the 5th round. The teams went back and forth with no goals until the 12th round, where Hershey's Tyson Strachan scored to win the game. David Leggio put forth another great performance, finishing with 32 saves and going 10 of 12 on the shootout. Hershey is now within one point of 8th place in the Eastern Conference, and will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday against the Portland Pirates. Game time is at 7.

The 3rd period only had a penalty, and it was against Manchester for too many men on the ice. Manchester finished with a 36-20 shot advantage. Philipp Grubauer finishes with 34 saves in a game that he shouldn't have lost. The Bears will look to rebound at home on Friday against the Albany Devils. Game time is at 7.

Recap

This is easily the most disappointing game of the season. With how David Leggio played tonight, he deserved much better. Halfway into the 1st period, Hershey got on the board. Nicolas Deschamps scored his 14th of the season, from Casey Wellman. 16 seconds later, Hershey's Kris Newbury was charged with high-sticking. This is where the defense fell apart in front of David Leggio. At the 14:04 mark, Worcester tied it up. Dan DaSilva scored his 15th of the season, from John McCarthy & Bracken Kearns. A little over a minute later, Worcester took the lead. Taylor Doherty scored his 4th of the season, from Marek Viedensky & Eriah Hayes. 2 minutes later, Worcester got the insurance goal to make it 4-2. Travis Oleksuk scored his 14th of the season, from Freddie Hamilton (2nd point of the night) & Konrad Abeltshauser. Worcester finished with the 40-27 shot advantage. Recap

Getting the win over the 8th place team when in 9th place is a big one. The Bears were able to do just that, and the power play/penalty kill was the reason. Starting off in the 1st period, at the 5:35 mark, Hershey's Nicolas Deschamps was charged with slashing. Around 4 minutes later, Hershey's Dane Byers was charged with slashing as well. At the 14:40 mark, Providence's Tyler Randell was charged with holding. 34 seconds into the power play, Hershey got on the board. David Kolomatis scored his 7th of the season, from Casey Wellman & Kris Newbury. Providence had the shot advantage at 9-7 after the 1st.

In the 2nd, the penalties continued. At the 2:45 mark, Hershey's Casey Wellman was charged with slashing. At the 5:22 mark, Providence's Justin Florek was charged with roughing. 4 minutes later, Hershey's Cameron Schilling was charged with holding. Towards the end of that power play, Providence's Jared Knight was charged with boarding. Near the end of that penalty, at the 12:45 mark, Providence's Tommy Cross was charged with tripping. 17 seconds into that power play, Hershey made it 2-0. Ryan Stoa scored his 14th of the season, from Dane Byers & Kris Newbury (2nd assist of the game). 29 seconds before the period ended, Stoa was charged with interference. Providence kept the shot advantage, now at 16-15.

The 3rd period had no penalties and no goals, and that was because of Hershey's David Leggio. Providence had a shot advantage of 12-2 in the period (28-17 total), but Leggio stopped every shot to get the shutout. Hershey plays on the road again tomorrow, this time against the Worcester Sharks. Game time is at 7.

Recap

It was nice to be able to finally go to a game in person instead of listening on the radio, but I wish it had been a better one for the home team. Starting in the 1st period, at the 1:44 mark, Hershey's Dane Byers was charged with slashing. A few minutes later, Norfolk's Charles Sarault was charged with hooking. At the 9:28 mark, Norfolk's Ryan Parent was charged a double minor for high-sticking, but the Bears power play unit struggled again. In a matter of 34 seconds, the Bears got two penalties. Ryan Stoa was charged with high-sticking, and Tyson Strachan was charged with delay of game. On that 5-on-3, Norfolk got on the board. Emerson Etem scored his 15th of the season, from Devante Smith-Pelly & Andre Petersson. To end the period, at the 18:00 mark, Norfolk's Steven Whitney was charged with hooking. Norfolk had the 13-6 shot advantage after the 1st.

The 2nd period was a little more ever, and got strange at one point. 50 seconds into the period, Norfolk took a 2-0 lead. Andre Petersson scored his 19th of the season (2nd point of the game), from Emerson Etem (2nd point of the game) & Charles Sarault. 48 seconds later, Norfolk's Nolan Yonkman was charged with roughing. At the 9:41 mark, Hershey cut the lead in half. Michael Latta scored his 11th of the season, from Dane Byers & David Kolomatis. Around 4 minutes later, Norfolk got the lead back to 2. Emerson Etem scored his 16th of the season (2nd goal and 3rd point of the night), from Garnet Exelby. At the 14:21 mark, penalties were given to each team after a fight featuring Norfolk's Joseph Cramarossa & Hershey's Steve Oleksy. A minute and a half later, Hershey's Dane Byers was charged with hooking. On this power play, I saw what is possibly the strangest goal I've ever seen. Hershey's Tyson Strachan shot the puck towards the Norfolk zone to clear it, but with the strange bounces that the puck took, it ended up in the back of the net past John Gibson. That was his 3rd goal of the season, and it cut the lead to 3-2. Norfolk kept the shot advantage, now at 22-21.

The 3rd period had chances for each team. Within around 2 minutes of each other, the Admirals got 2 penalties. Chris Wagner was charged with tipping, and Ryan Parent was charged with hooking. At the 8:03 mark, Hershey's Nicolas Deschamps was tripping. Hershey had multiple chances towards the end of the period, but just couldn't get the puck past John Gibson. At the 19:54 mark, two penalties occurred. Norfolk's Jesse Blacker was charged with unsportsmanlike conduct, and Hershey's Kris Newbury was charged with slashing. At the end of the game, Norfolk's Garnet Exelby and Hershey's Michael Latta was charged with fighting. Hershey finished with the shot advantage at 37-36. Hershey will look to string together some more wins for the playoff push, starting on Friday against the Providence Bruins. Game time is at 7:05.

Recap

I don't really know what to say about this game, other then the Bears had some really bad luck with penalties. The 1st period started off with 4 penalties on 2 people. Hershey's Patrick Wellar was charged with fighting and unsportsmanlike conduct, and Norfolk's Zack Stortini was charged with the same. At the 7:52 mark, Norfolk's Charles Sarault was charged with tripping. Right before the power play ended, Hershey got on the board. Michael Latta scored his 9th of the season, from Nicolas Deschamps & Brandon Segal. At the 11:33 mark, Norfolk's Dave Steckel was charged with hooking. 17 seconds before the period ended, Hershey was charged with a bench minor for too many men. Hershey had a 9-5 shot advantage after the 1st.

This is where the Bears' luck ran out. At the 2:28 mark of the 2nd, Hershey's Nicolas Deschamps was charged with slashing. At the 9:46 mark, Norfolk tied it up. Andre Petersson scored his 18th of the season, from Charles Sarault & Emerson Etem. Around 45 seconds later, Hershey's Tyson Strachan was charged with boarding. 4 minutes later, Norfolk took the lead on a goal that was controversial. Chris Wagner scored his 10th of the season, from Steven Whitney. However, during that time, Hershey's Nate Schmidt was tripped and injured on the play. There was no call. At that same time, Hershey got a bench minor for unsportsmanlike conduct. 2 and a half minutes later, Hershey's Dane Byers was charged with boarding. Norfolk made it 3-1 on that power play. Max Friberg scored his 13th of the season, from Kevin Gagne & Emerson Etem (2nd assist of the game). Hershey had the 17-15 shot advantage after this period.

There was only a couple happenings in the 3rd period, and the first one was early. At the 0:47 mark, Hershey's Michael Latta was charged with roughing. At the end of the game, the Bears were charged with 3 penalties. Dane Byers was charged with hooking and got a misconduct for unsportsmanlike conduct. Patrick Wellar also got a misconduct for unsportsmanlike conduct. Hershey finished with the 24-21 shot advantage. Hershey's next game is against the Syracuse Crunch on Friday. Game time is at 7.

Recap

6 in a row. This game was a really odd one. Starting it off, at the 8:27 mark, Hershey's Patrick Wey was charged with tripping. About two and a half minutes later, Charlotte's Jared Staal was charged with tripping. At the 16:24 mark, Charlotte's Chris Terry was charged with roughing. Within a minute of each other, the Bears got two penalties. Ryan Potulny was charged with hooking, and Dane Byers was charged with boarding. On the 5-on-3 power play, and with 2.9 seconds left, Charlotte got on the board. Chris Terry scored his 18th of the season, from Aaron Palushaj & Ryan Murphy. Hershey had the 12-7 shot advantage after the 1st.

The 2nd period was a strange one. At the 5:35 mark, Hershey's Michael Latta was charged with slashing. 2 seconds before the power play would end, Charlotte made it 2-0. Mark Flood scored his 13th of the season, from Michal Jordan & Victor Rask. This is where it got weird. A negated icing call led to Charlotte taking a 3-0 lead. Ryan Murphy scored his 1st of the season, from Brett Sutter & Greg Nemisz. Hershey's coach, Mike Haviland, wanted an explanation for the negated icing call. The ref, David Banfield (who will now be the most hated referee in Hershey), decided that Haviland was being unsportsmanlike, and threw him out of the game. Haviland got a game misconduct, and the Bears got a bench minor for unsportsmanlike conduct. 6 minutes later, skating with anger, the Bears got on the board. Jeff Taffe scored his 17th of the season, from Patrick Wey & Julien Brouillette. To end the period, at the 18:06 mark, Charlotte's Matt Marquardt was charged with interference. Going into the 3rd period, the Bears had a 27-17 shot advantage.

At the 7:08 mark of the 3rd period, the Bears got it to within one. Matt Watkins scored his 9th of the year, from Tyson Strachan & Jack Hillen. 39 seconds later, Charlotte brought it back to a 2 goal lead. Zach Boychuk scored his 25th of the year, from Aaron Palushaj (2nd assist of the game) & Sean Dolan. 4 minutes later, Charlotte's Aaron Palushaj was charged with hooking. 2 and a half minutes later, Hershey's Brandon Segal was charged with tripping. On that power play, Charlotte made it 5-2. Zach Boychuk scored his 26th of the year (2nd goal of the game), from Chris Terry & Aaron Palushaj (3rd assist of the game). At the 16:45 mark, Hershey got it to 5-3. Ryan Stoa scored his 12th of the season, from Stanislav Galiev & Jack Hillen (2nd assist of the game). With 2 seconds left, Charlotte got an empty netter. Zach Boychuk scored his 27th of the season (hat trick), from Sean Dolan. Hershey finished with the 40-26 shot advantage. Hershey will look to break its losing streak on Friday, as they play against the Norfolk Admirals. Game time is at 7:30.
