Recap

Another blowout win for the Bears! They've been on fire lately, both their offense and their goaltending. Penalties started to be taken only 19 seconds into the game, but they wouldn't continue at a huge pace. At the 8:24 mark, the Bears would get the 1st goal, as usual. Chris Brown scored his 14th of the season, from Dustin Gazley & Kris Newbury. After the 1st, the Senators had the 6-5 shot advantage.

The 2nd would start off a little slow, but would pick up in goals and penalties in the 2nd half of the period. At the 11:32 mark, the Bears increased their lead to three. Casey Wellman scored his 2nd of the night (19th of the season), from Philippe Cornet (2nd assist of the night). At the 18:15 mark, the Bears scored on the power play. Recap

This one didn't have anywhere close to as many penalties as last night's game, but it was still an exciting one. In the 1st period, through the first ten minutes, it looked like it could be a low-scoring game. However, that changed in a 2 minute window. Providence got on the board first at the 12:12 mark. Alexander Khokhlachev scored his 12th of the season, from Steve Eminger & Chris Casto. At the 13:49 mark, the Bears would tie it up. Garrett Mitchell scored his 2nd of the season, from Steve Oleksy & Jon Landry. 27 seconds later, the Bruins got the lead back. Ben Sexton scored his 2nd of the season, from Zach Trotman. After the 1st, the Bears had the 12-8 shot advantage.

In the 2nd, the goal spree continued. At the 3:30 mark, the Bears tied it back up. Joel Broda scored his 6th of the season. At the 7:05 mark, they took the 3-2 lead. Chris Brown scored his 13th of the season, from Jon Landry (2nd assist of the night) & Kris Newbury. Later in the period, at the 16:40 mark, the Bears increased their lead to 2. Dustin Gazley scored his 11th of the season, from Kris Newbury (2nd assist of the night). It was around this point that the tiredness of another 3-in-3 weekend started to take its toll on the Bears. One second after a power play ended, 46 seconds before the end of the 2nd, the Bruins made it 4-3. Alexander Khokhlachev scored his 2nd of the night (13th of season), from David Warsofsky & Seth Griffith. After the 2nd, the shots were tied at 20.

In the 3rd, the Bruins completely dominated, even though both penalties went against them. They would have a 15-3 shot advantage in the period, and it all led to a goal to tie the game at 4 (at the 7:30 mark). Rob Flick scored his 11th of the season, from Justin Florek & Ben Youds. Even with that shot advantage, the game would continue into overtime. In the overtime, Jim O'Brien was the hero as he gave the Bears the 5-4 victory. It was his 3rd of the season, from Stanislav Galiev & Erik Burgdoerfer. The Bruins finished with the 37-24 shot advantage.

Recap

That was possibly the most I've ever had to write in a box score for one period. Going up until that point, there was plenty of scoring, but it was otherwise a pretty normal game. 1:59 into the 1st, the Bears got the early start again. Joel Broda scored his 5th of the season, from Connor Carrick & Liam O'Brien. At the 6:29 mark, on the power play, the Bears increased their lead to two. Tim Kennedy scored his 5th of the season, from Chris Conner & Connor Carrick (2nd assist of the night). Less than 4 minutes later, Bridgeport would get an odd goal to make it 2-1. Cam Reid scored his 1st of the season, from Matt Carkner. At the 16:05 mark, on the power play, the power play master would strike again to make it 3-1 Bears. Stanislav Galiev scored his 20th of the season, from Casey Wellman & Connor Carrick (3rd assist of the night). After the 1st, the Bears had the 18-6 shot advantage.

Until the 15:40 mark in the 2nd, there wasn't much going on in the period. At the 9:07 mark, the Sound Tigers would get within one. Alan Quine scored his 12th of the season, from Aaron Ness & Cory Conacher. At the 15:40 mark, it all went crazy. This says it all: there was a goalie fight. The Sound Tigers would get 84 penalty minutes (4 game misconducts and 2 misconducts), and the Bears would get 82 penalty minutes (5 game misconducts and a misconduct). Each team would need a new goalie, as the goalies were given game misconducts for fighting. Philipp Grubauer would come in for the Bears, and former Bear David Leggio would come in for the Sound Tigers. After the 2nd, the Bears had the 23-21 shot advantage.

Things would calm down in the 3rd, but there would still be a couple goals. At the 10:53 mark, the Bears would increase their lead to 4-2 with a shorthanded goal. Chris Conner scored his 15th of the season (2nd point of the night), from Tim Kennedy (2nd point of the night) & Matt Moore. The Sound Tigers would get within one at the 16:24 mark. Harry Zolnierczyk scored his 15th of the season, from C.J. Stretch & Aaron Ness (2nd assist of the night). That would finish the scoring, and the Bears would get the 4-3 victory. The Sound Tigers finished with the 30-27 shot advantage.

Recap

13-game point streak! This team has been on fire lately, and it continues with another dominate win. The 1st period, however, didn't have any scoring. The penalties did not affect the game too much. Dustin Gazley scored his 9th of the season, from Kris Newbury & Erik Burgdoerfer. The Bears penalty kill would once again come forth in this period. However, the Sound Tigers' penalty kill would struggle, as the Bears would score at the 12:27 mark on a 5-on-3 power play. Dustin Gazley scored his 2nd of the night (10th of season), from Chris Brown. After the 2nd, the Bears had the 23-16 shot advantage.

Recap

That makes it a 12-game point streak for the Bears (10-0-1-1)! The team has been on fire through these games, and Philipp Grubauer continues his hot streak as well. The 1st period was played pretty evenly, even with the two penalties against the Bears (the penalty kill continues to be extraordinary). At the 13:09 mark, the Bears would be able to get on the board first. Dustin Gazley scored his 7th of the season, from Kris Newbury. At the 18:30 mark, the Pirates would get the tying goal. Darian Dziurzynski scored his 11th of the season, from Dylan Reese & Chris Summers. After the 1st, the Pirates had the 11-9 shot advantage.

In the 2nd, even though the shots would be even, the Bears would take over the game. It started off early in the period with a goal at the 2:35 mark for the Bears. Dustin Gazley scored his 2nd of the night (8th of season), from Mike Moore. 2 minutes later, the Pirates would be charged a penalty. On that power play, the power-play master would strike to make it 3-1. Stanislav Galiev scored his 18th of the season, from Connor Carrick & Tim Kennedy. Later on in the period, at the 17:14 mark, the lead would be increased to 3. Stanislav Galiev scored his 2nd of the night (19th of season), from Tim Kennedy (2nd assist of the night) & Chris Conner. After the 2nd, the Pirates had the 20-18 shot advantage.

In the 3rd, the Bears didn't waste much time to increase their lead to 4 (the 0:31 mark). Joel Broda scored his 4th of the season, from Liam O'Brien & Tomas Kundratek. At the 5:00 mark, the Pirates would stop the bleeding with a goal to make it 5-2. Corey Trivino scored his 2nd of the season, from Henrik Samuelsson & Greg Miller. The Pirates would get a couple power-play chances to get it closer, but Philipp Grubauer and the penalty kill did their job as always. The Pirates finished with the 30-28 shot advantage.

Recap

Philipp Grubauer has just been on fire this season. That's his 5th shutout of this season, and this has to be one of the more impressive ones. Scott Wedgewood put forth a great performance as well, but it wasn't enough. The Bears had a 5-on-3 in the 1st, but couldn't capitalize on it. After the 1st, the Devils had the 12-8 shot advantage. In the 2nd, the Bears penalty kill showed why it's the best in the league by killing off a 5-on-3 power play for a full 2 minutes. At the 13:14 mark of the period, the Bears would get that 1st goal. Stanislav Galiev scored his 17th of the season, from Chris Conner & Tim Kennedy. After the 2nd, the Devils had the 27-20 shot advantage. The 3rd period had barely any stoppages, which led this game to be one of the quickest of the season. The Devils would have a few shots with under a minute left, but Grubauer stood tall to get the 35-save shutout (Bears finished with 27 shots).

Next Game: Tomorrow vs. Portland, 7:00

Note: It was announced a couple days ago that Dane Byers would miss the rest of the season and the playoffs. He will be undergoing shoulder surgery.

Nick Cousins scored his 15th of the season, from Brandon Alderson & Petr Straka. With 2:15 left in the period, the Bears would tie it up again. In the 3rd, the play would slow down a bit. However, the first goal would come 1:01 into the period, and it would give Lehigh Valley the 4-3 lead (on the power play). Recap

It's been a while since a Bears game had so little penalties. Even with the decreased power play chances, the Bears were able to get the victory. The Bears started off slow in the 1st, and it lead to Binghamton getting the 1-0 lead. Garrett Thompson scored his 3rd of the season, from Buddy Robinson & David Dziurzynski. Less than two minutes later, the Bears were able to tie it. Casey Wellman scored his 14th of the season, from Jim O'Brien & Tomas Kundratek. Later on in the period (at the 16:11 mark), the Bears were able to take the 2-1 lead. Chris Conner scored his 11th of the season, from Chandler Stephenson & Stanislav Galiev. After the 1st, the Bears had the 12-11 shot advantage.

The 2nd had one penalty for each team, but the Senators had most of the chances in the period. It would stay 2-1 Bears though. After the 2nd, the Senators had the 22-16 shot advantage. In the 3rd, the Bears would get that insurance goal quick (2:33 into the period). Chris Conner scored his 2nd of the night (12th of the season), from Stanislav Galiev (2nd assist of the night) & Connor Carrick. At the 9:25 mark, Binghamton would get the lead back to 1. Colin Greening scored his 1st of the season, from Cole Schneider. Pheonix Copley, put into the starting role after the callup of Philipp Grubauer, would shut them down the rest of the way and finish off a strong 29-save performance (Hershey finished with 25 shots).

Next Game: Tonight vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, 7:00

Notes: A few moves were made over the past couple days. Goaltender Philipp Grubauer was called up to the Caps during the day (he ended up getting the win in goal for the Caps against the Ducks last night). In possible preparation for the move, the Bears signed goaltender Kenny Reiter to a professional tryout contract. Also, to make room for Grubauer, the Caps sent Andre Burakovsky down to Hershey. However, just before posting this, the Caps announced that they have recalled Burakovsky and sent Grubauer back to Hershey. Also, Reiter was released from that tryout contract.
