Recap

DEFEND THE DEN. 10 in a row at Giant Center! The 1st period was a slow one. At the 2:26 mark, Portland's Phil Lane was charged with hooking. At the 15:14 mark, Hershey's Ryan Potulny was charged with hooking. At the 18:01 mark, Portland's Brett Hextall was charged with goaltender interference. Neither team could capitalize on those chances. Hershey went into the 1st intermission with a 10-8 shot advantage.

In the 2nd period, at least in the case of chances, the pace was picked up a bit. At the 1:53 mark, Portland's Brandon McMillan was charged with cross-checking. At the 5:22 mark, the scoreless tie was broken. Hershey's Peter LeBlanc scored his 10th of the season, from Cameron Schilling. Only 52 seconds later, it was tied once again. Portland's Brandon Yip scored his 5th of the season, from Brandon Gormley & Tobias Rieder. At the 2nd intermission, Hershey had a 26-20 shot advantage.

The 3rd period continued the somewhat brisk pace of the 2nd period, in the case of chances once again. At the 3:57 mark, Hershey's Dane Byers broke the tie with his 6th goal of the season, from Chay Genoway & Matt Watkins. At the 11:57 mark, Byers was charged with tripping. However, during that penalty, Portland's Rostislav Klesla was charged with interference. Portland had a couple more chances after this, but Philipp Grubauer played well with 30 saves. Hershey finished the game with a 36-31 shot advantage. The Bears will look to stretch their home streak to 11 tomorrow, as they play the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Game time is at 5.
