Recap
What was a close-fought game between two good teams turned into a mess very quickly. The 1st period continued to show how the Bears' goalies have been outstanding, but can't stop everything. Syracuse took the lead at the 6:06 mark. Philippe Paradis scored his 6th of the season, from Yanni Gourde & Joey Mormina. Each team had a couple power play chances, but they couldn't capitalize. At the end of the period, the Crunch had the 13-10 shot advantage.
In the 2nd, each team had many chances on the power play, and two fights. The 1st fight was between Hershey's Joel Broda and Syracuse's Jean-Philippe Cote. The 2nd fight was between Hershey's Erik Burgdoerfer and Syracuse's Tanner Richard. Syracuse got 2 extra minutes for that fight, and on that power play, the Bears tied it up. Stanislav Galiev scored his 3rd of the season, from Connor Carrick & Tim Kennedy. After the 2nd, the shot advantage was tied at 21.
In the 3rd, the Crunch started off early. Cody Kunyk scored his 3rd of the season, from Joel Vermin. On the 2nd power play that was given to the Crunch in the period, they made it 3-1. Cody Kunyk scored once again (4th of the season), from Joey Mormina (2nd assist of the night). That broke the 25-penalty streak that the Bears penalty kill had of not giving up a goal. Syracuse sealed the game with an empty-net goal with 56 seconds left. Jonathan Marchessault got his 8th of the season, from Yanni Gourde (2nd assist of the night). The Crunch finished with the 37-29 shot advantage.
