Bears Free Agent Signing News

It was announced today that the Bears have signed defenseman Erik Burgdoerfer to a one year contract. Erik has spent his entire career with the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors, who the Bears coach Troy Mann happened to coach last year. In this previous season, Burgdoerfer put up career-high numbers in the 67 games he played as alternate captain. He had 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) to his credit. In the playoffs, he had 6 points (1 goal, 5 assists) to his credit. It will be interesting to see where Burgdoerfer fits in the defense of the Bears, and if he will be one of those players that will go back and forth between Hershey and South Carolina.
