Recap

An important victory for the Bears, as it helps them get within 5 points of the Penguins for 1st place in the division. It wasn't an easy victory, as once again, Jeff Zatkoff proved to be the Bears' nemesis. However, Pheonix Copley played just as well. In the 1st period, the big moment was the Bears' penalty kill and getting rid of a 5-on-3 power play against them. After that period, the Penguins had the 12-4 shot advantage. In the 2nd, the goals appeared. At the 5:10 mark, the Bears finally solved Zatkoff. Erik Burgdoerfer scored his 1st AHL goal, from Kris Newbury & Chris Brown.

About 4 minutes later, the Penguins were able to tie it up. Matia Marcantuoni scored his 2nd of the season, from Nick D'Agostino & Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond. After the 2nd, the Penguins had the 20-14 shot advantage. In the 3rd and in overtime, the Bears were able to control a good amount of the play. However, Zatkoff stopped all of the Bears' shots in those periods. Going into the shootout, the Bears finished with the 29-26 shot advantage. In the shootout, Zatkoff and Copley would go back and forth with stops. In the 5th round, Philippe Cornet was finally able to get one past Zatkoff, and Copley would stop Tom Kostopoulos to get the 25-save victory.

Next Game: Friday at Albany, 7:00

Side Note: Philipp Grubauer was injured during the 3rd period of Wednesday's game against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. It's been said that he is week-to-week.
