Recap

The Bears played much better as the game went on, but the start of the game came back to haunt them. The play of Casey DeSmith kept the Bears out of it all game as well. It wouldn't take long for the Pens to get on the board, as they scored 45 seconds in. Daniel Sprong scored his 4th of the playoffs, from Dustin Jeffrey & Kael Mouillierat. With less than a minute left, the Pens would get a chance on a penalty shot, but Justin Peters would be able to stop it. After the 1st, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton had a dominating 18-6 shot advantage.

In the 2nd, the Bears would wake up a bit and play to the potential that we know they have. However, the period wouldn't start that way, as the Pens scored 14 seconds into the period. Carter Rowney scored his 2nd of the playoffs, from Ryan Parent & Barry Goers. The rest of the period would be favored to the Bears, but DeSmith would stop everything that came his way. After the 2nd, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton had the 27-18 shot advantage.

The Bears would continue their stronger play in the 3rd period, but once again, it wouldn't lead to anything on the scoreboard. At the 7:04 mark, the Pens made it 3-0. Daniel Sprong scored his 2nd of the night (5th of playoffs), from Tim Erixon & Jake Guentzel. Hershey would get their biggest chance on a penalty shot, but Nathan Walker would be stopped by DeSmith. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton would finish out the game at the 17:07 mark with a shorthanded empty-net goal to make it 4-0. Tom Kostopoulos scored his 2nd of the playoffs. Casey DeSmith finished with the 33-save shutout (Pens had 31 shots).
